“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but, importantly, YOU ARE NOT THE RAIN.”

— Matt Haig

About Me

My name is Jade, in case you couldn’t guess. I am passionate about mental health, having battled depression and anxiety for most of my life. I have had some very dark times and some wonderful times, along the way I have worked on myself and my ways of coping. I am still on a journey of self discovery and I am so proud of everything I have achieved. I expect to always be growing, learning and changing and this blog has been an amazing thing to look back on and see how far I have come.

I started writing as a way to let out some of the pain so I could feel better. This came after the worst low I had experienced and the following years of stepping up to heal. After finding that writing it out helped, I decided to share what is essentially parts of my diary, publicly as I wanted other people to know that it is ok to talk about mental illness.

I write when I feel the need to, so my posts can be very raw and are often sprinkled with swearing – fair warning. I don’t share every aspect and there are rather large gaps in my posts. This is because I have learned to respect my own boundaries while healing and find that not everything is something I want to share.

I have an amazing support network, I am incredibly lucky, however, I know that there are some people out there who don’t, so let these posts be your light in the dark. Let them inspire you as others have inspired me, to not let mental illness stop you from having a wonderful life. You are not alone, you can be anything you want to be, you can recover and discover new things about yourself every day.

Thanks for reading and stay strong warriors!
